Nightnotes Concerts in Birmingham 2007-2008 Series
Friday nights in the intimate and cozy atmosphere of Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham. A reception begins at 8:00, followed by an 8:30 performance. New this year: a sixth concert, featuring great jazz.
October 5
DCWS oboe virtuoso Sally Pituch is joined by MOT violinist Andrew Wu and keyboardist Angelina Pashmakova for a concert stretching from the genius of Handel to the romance of the violin.
November 9
Violist Jason Amos is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and is a Sphinx Organization Laureate. An alum of Southfield-Lathrup High School, he worked with DCWS musicians as part of the organization’s longstanding residency in the Southfield Schools.
January 11
Clarinetist Laurence Liberson is joined by DSO Principal Horn Karl Pituch in a performance featuring Reinecke’s Trio for Clarinet, Horn and Piano, Op. 274, as well as solo works for each instrument.
February 22
DCWS violist and DSO Assistant Principal James VanValkenburg takes center stage in a viola recital shared with pianist Pauline Martin.
April 4
The DSO Horn Quartet presents an encore to their spectacular 2006 performance, the best-attended concert in the history of Nightnotes. With amazing virtuosity matched only by consummate musicianship, this concert is not to be missed.
May 9
DCWS is excited to present its first jazz Nightnotes concert, Detroit Jazz Legends, Friday, May 9 at 8:30 p.m. at Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham
