Nightnotes Series


Friday night Nightnotes concerts are presented in the intimate setting of Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham. Come as you are to enjoy great music. A reception begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by an 8:00 p.m. concert.

Fresh from starring roles on Broadway, actress and singer Lauren Molina returns home for a concert displaying her incredible artistic versatility.

Hear duo and solo performances by husband and wife trumpeters Thomas Hooten and Jennifer Marotta. Hooten was recently named principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Musical accompaniment will be provided by pianist Janice Park.

Artists Xiao Dong Wei, Tian Shi Feng, and Yan Xi Dong present a concert of music on traditional Chinese instruments including the erhu, bamboo flute, and guzheng. Xiao Dong Wei is a 2012 Kresge Fellow.

Jazz bassist Robert Hurst cut his teeth with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and as part of The Tonight Show band. Hurst leads an ensemble for a night of great jazz.

Fresh from winning three prestigious international prizes, the Akropolis Reed Quintet will serve as the DCWS Young Ensemble -in-Residence for 2012-13.
